Snoqualmie has been committed to sustainable and organic winemaking practices since 1983. Beginning in the vineyard and carrying through to the winery and our packaging, we believe that investing in these practices is the best way to highlight all the purity of fruit that mother nature intended.

Vineyard

  • Our grapes are certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture (ECO tier).
  • Our crop cover initiatives reduce soil erosion through a green cover of beneficial native grasses and cereal grains which also provide habitat to attract beneficial insects to the vineyards.
  • Our vineyard pest management operations maintain and expand registered virus-free mother block.
  • We use weather stations and soil moisture-measuring probes to monitor water use and eliminate wasted water in the vineyards.

Winery

  • By using eco-friendly energy options in the winery, we have reduced our electricity usage by 30% in the last five years.
  • Our use of water - earth's most precious resource - has been cut 30% with the help of 'wash and rinse' initiatives to re-use gray water, use heat exchangers with our non-jacketed tanks, and the use of new, water-conserving nozzles on all hoses.
  • A recycling program in the winery includes paper, glass, cork, and aluminum waste, reducing our solid waste by more than 8% annually.
